After Fans Bash Bad Bunny Super Bowl Halftime Show, NFL Announces Next Year’s Show Will Be One Single Rendition of “Golden” by K-Pop Demon Hunters
NFL Responds to Halftime Show Complaints by Announcing One Song Punishment Performance for 2027
NEW YORK. After weeks of intense backlash from fans who described this year’s NFL halftime show as " incomprehendible" "too weird," and "not something I genuinely care about" Commissioner Roger Goodell announced Tuesday that the league has settled on a bold new approach to combat their entertainment blunder...
Collective punishment.
Standing at a podium decorated with the NFL shield and a noticeably disappointed expression, Goodell confirmed that next year’s Super Bowl halftime show will consist of a single, unbroken performance of the song Golden from K Pop Demon Hunters, played once, in full, with no guest appearances, no fireworks, and no escape.
“We heard the feedback, ” Goodell said, staring directly into the middle distance. “Fans want fewer risks, fewer surprises, and fewer things that make them ask their children questions. So we are giving them exactly one song they did not ask for, from a property they do not understand, as a learning opportunity.”
According to league sources, the decision was made after the NFL received over three million complaints, many of which simply read “bring back normal music” or “this isn’t football.”
“This is about accountability, ” said one unnamed NFL executive. “If fans are going to complain no matter what, we want them to really sit with that feeling.”
At press time, Goodell confirmed the NFL is already preparing a contingency plan in case of further backlash, which would involve the same song being played again at the Pro Bowl, this time at half speed.
